In the Lensli Academy we regularly inform you about practical situations that we encounter in the sector, we talk about insights gained in practice, we give you cultivation tips and we share our knowledge about other interesting substrate-related matters.

Academy – Packaging forms

Our substrates are produced with attention and care and of course this also includes suitable packaging. Each packaging form has its own characteristics and advantages and it is up to the customer how and in what form our substrate is delivered.

We offer our customers various packaging options for the delivery of our substrates. Our substrates can be supplied as desired in Bulk, Big Bales, Big Bags, 45L bags and Growbags.

Bulk
Bulk deliveries mean that we collect and transport the substrate loose in the truck. Upon arrival at our customer's company, the substrate is then unloaded 'loose', at the location desired by the customer. A customer must designate a suitable place for this, which is clean and spacious enough, but which is also easily accessible for our trucks. The Lensli driver ensures adequate delivery to the right place. After delivery, the customer is responsible for the storage and further processing of the substrate.

Big Bale
At Big Bales, the substrate is mechanically compressed and provided with packaging material from top to bottom. To provide the substrate with air, perforations are made in the packaging material at the front and back of the Big Bale. We do this to prevent undesirable processes, such as heating.

As soon as the Big Bale rolls off the machine, it is placed on a pallet. By compressing the substrate, more content can be contained in a Big Bale compared to other packaging options and this method of packaging is the most cost-efficient way of packaging. Packaging substrate in a Big Bale has a favorable effect on transport, stock overview and storage volume and also offers a high degree of hygiene. One Big Bale holds an average of 3,5 to 5 ENm3 of substrate. Naturally, the final content of a Big Bale depends entirely on the type of substrate, in terms of weight, volume and composition.

To ensure that the Big Bales do not become too heavy for pallet trucks and forklift trucks, we maintain a maximum weight of 1250 kilos for our Big Bales. This also enables us to keep the tonnage of transport under control

Big Bag
Big Bags are literally large bags into which the substrate is poured loose. The contents of a Big Bag is approximately 2-2,5 ENm3; This is of course entirely dependent on the composition, weight and volume of the substrate. Customers often choose this form of packaging because Big Bags, compared to Bulk, for example, offer more hygiene, ease of use and stock overview.

Because the Big Bags have loops, the Big Bags can easily be hung above the storage bins at the nursery. Many of our customers therefore enjoy working with this form of packaging. It offers them a certain degree of convenience.

45 liter bags
Our 45L bags are delivered on pallets and shrink-wrapped.
Due to their favorable and compact size, the 45 liter bags are easy to transport and process and are very suitable for possible resale.

Grow bags
With the help of our special packaging line, we are able to produce functional grow bags by machine. Our customers can choose between 1 meter and 1.20 m mats. The grow bags can be supplied with or without drainage holes. Growbags are often used in vegetable and (soft) fruit cultivation
