Sustainability

Sustainability is a key aspect of all our business operations.

To avoid depleting the earth’s natural resources, we aim to create the right balance between people, planet and profit throughout the entire chain - from our offices to delivering the end product. For the generations of today and tomorrow.

Focus on the use of alternative, circular raw materials.
Our extremely wide range of raw materials and substrate blends is continually tested and analysed. This reveals new insights that enable us to improve our products and implement innovations. Essential to this focus are circularity and a low eco-footprint.

Sustainability classes for all our substrates
The Lensli sustainability classes give our customers insight into the sustainability and circularity of a substrate and the corresponding properties. This classification system not only aims to offer CO2 and peat-free substrates, it also examines the origin and type of organic raw materials and fertilisers. Read more.

RHP Certified
We hold RHP certification for our complete product portfolio ranging from the substrates and topping soil to the bark and rice husks. Lensli Substrates has complied with the RHP quality standards applicable in the market since 1999.
This certification offers the greatest possible certainty that all our raw materials and substrates can be used safely, without any risk to cultivation

Digital waybills (eCMR)
We use digital waybills to optimise our logistics processes. This considerably reduces our use of paper and ink and contributes to a lower footprint. Other initiatives are planned for the near future to digitalise more components of our logistics processes.

Solar panels at our factory in Cuijk
Thanks to the array of over 3000 solar panels installed at our factory in Cuijk, our production facility is completely self-sufficient and powered by green electricity. The energy generated by the solar panels is enough to power our substrate factory, and provide the other tenants at the site with power. The excess energy is fed back into the grid.

Partnerships in the chain
One of our partnerships in the chain is with the Den Ouden Group. Our cooperation aims to intensify the production of renewable raw materials used in substrate production and to stimulate more widespread use of circular raw materials in substrates. Together, we can take advantage of the opportunities offered by sustainable innovations, turn them into actionable solutions and implement them.

Sustainable PCR buckets
The test and sample bags we used at Lensli have been replaced by sustainable buckets made from PCR plastic. PCR is the abbreviation of Post-Consumer Recycled. This means the buckets are made of material that is made from the items that consumers and industry recycle every day. This is another example of our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our company.

Business cards printed on eco-friendly paper
Our business cards are printed on eco-friendly material by a PSO-3+ certified company. This certification is awarded for social entrepreneurship. Some of the employees at the company are people with a labour market disadvantage. This reflects our belief that everyone deserves a fair chance.
