Tree nursery Kortenhorst from Heeten in Overijssel specializes in the cultivation of dwarf rhododendrons and has been a regular customer of Lensli Substrates for over 25 years.
Boomkwekerij Kortenhorst has 2,5 hectares of greenhouse and was founded in 1980 by Gonnie Kortenhorst. Today the company is led by 3 partners, namely Gonnie Kortenhorst, Jos Wijnberg and Frans Kortenhorst. The dwarf rhododendrons are grown in 1,5L pots, with their own logo 'My home is my castle'. It concerns a 2,5 half-year cultivation, from cuttings, via planting material to end product.
Frans Kortenhorst explains: “We stand for efficiency and modern operational management in terms of certification and automation. For the future, we want to further develop our product at a high quality level. Resilience and uniformity in form and growth are very important here.”
Together with Lensli, we look for the best possible solutions and work step by step towards a product with less peat. In this way they can reduce the amount of peat over the years and their knowledge is expanded at the same time.
