“We started working with the Lensli substrate based on the combination of price, quality and service. We have now been working with Lensli to our complete satisfaction for more than 5 years.”
The company Future Flowers BV from De Lier supplies various types of high-quality Calla lilies from Dutch soil with great care.
By applying modern cultivation techniques, Future Flowers is able to simulate a climate that allows Callas to be produced all year round. With a team of 12 employees, the Callas are grown, soaked and packaged with continuous care for the product. The right substrate is of course very important.
Future Flowers is the only grower in the Netherlands to grow a collection of no fewer than seven types of Calla lilies all year round. The flowers are sorted into lengths of 40 to 70 centimeters. The company has many varieties in its range with the characteristic flexible stem, which makes Future Flowers callas very popular for use in bridal work, corsages, funeral work and various other decorations. You also increasingly see the Calla as an eye-catcher in more luxurious bouquets. The higher segments of the market are therefore grateful buyers of Future Flowers' callas. Delivering high quality is therefore essential for Future Flowers.
"We deliver quality and emotion, allowing consumers to enjoy our flowers for an extra long time."
The very best quality is strived for throughout the entire cultivation process. During the first 5 weeks the tubers are grown into a half-grown plant. This is followed by a thorough selection for growth and quality. After selection, the remaining plants are moved over to flower. By providing the right amount of light, temperature, water and nutrition, Future Flowers creates an optimal growing environment for the Callas to develop further. The composition of the substrate in combination with the most optimal proportions of raw materials and additives also plays an important role in this.
The current substrate used by Future Flowers has an airy composition and has a balanced soil life, which ensures that the Callas have good and healthy root formation.
Owner Eric Jansen says with great enthusiasm and passion: “We deliver quality and emotion, which allows the consumer to enjoy our flowers for an extra long time.” Eric emphasizes that enthusiastic employees also play an important role in this, because you can only maintain high quality standards with motivated people.
Future Flowers is affiliated with growers' association Decorum, a group of like-minded growers who sell their best flowers and plants under the joint Decorum brand.
Collaboration within the group is central, where the affiliated companies can learn a lot from and with each other. Future Flowers has further intensified its collaboration with a number of Decorum growers since 2021 by appointing a joint salesperson and commissioning a logistics distribution center at Royal FloraHolland Rijnsburg.
Eric explains: “Reliability, flexibility and quality are of paramount importance to us. We believe it is important to have personal contact with our customers. Every wish can be discussed; we like to think in terms of solutions. In addition, being able to deliver quickly and offering good service are important pillars for us.”
For the future, Eric expects that the further development of the substrate and the use of renewable raw materials will become very important in order to burden the environment as little as possible. Of course, we at Lensli are happy to assist him in this.
